Citizens Property Insurance announced on October 1, 2008 that all homes within the Wind Borne Debris Region of Florida (which includes the tri-county areas of Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach) are required to have “opening protection” by their policy renewal date in 2009 if the insured value of the property exceeds $750,000.
